Different HID Bulb Colors

!: Different HID Bulb Colors

When buying a HID conversion kit one important question is, "What Kelvin temperature should I pick?" Many people struggle between the 4300K and the 6000K where others struggle between 6000K and the 8000K. With the differences being ever so slight, no wonder it is hard to decide which one to order. Here you will find the colors explained in detail to help you make an informed decision when you buy.

To start off, the 4300K is going to be the color closest to sunlight- the most natural of light and the easiest light on our eyes. It isn't my favorite because it has the halogen "yellow" color to it. The color isn't exactly yellow, but if you look at a halogen bulb, it mimics that color very closely. This is the Kelvin temp to pick for those who want the MOST light output.

Next, the 6000K HID bulb is going to be the next bulb in line that produces the most light. This bulb color is the purest of white light. You won't find any blue or purple in this bulb- just a white light source.

Then, there are 8000K Hid bulbs. Personally, I love this look. I feel this color has the most personality without sacrificing any light output. The 8000K is a white light with a touch of blue. It isn't an overpowering blue color but a subtle touch of blue- or even an aqua. If you are afraid of this being too blue- don't worry- they aren't! This is not a deep blue HID bulb you will find in the 10000K or 12000K bulbs.

Finally, the 10000K and the 12000K HID bulbs are not the best choices to go with if you are looking for the HID bulb with the most light output. These two colors are very dark on the road- when compared to the 4300K or the 6000K. The dark color of the blue bulbs makes it very difficult to see. The 10000K and the 12000K are used mostly by people who simply want to be seen or want to look cool. The blue light really is a "be seen" color and when installed in your car, turns a lot of heads. But sometimes you may get unwanted attention by cops. The blue lights are not legal and when using them, you are risking a ticket. So, if you choose to get the 10000K or the 12000K, use at your own risk.

Massage Contraindications - Why Some People Cannot Receive a Massage

!: Massage Contraindications - Why Some People Cannot Receive a Massage

Massage therapy is a wonderful and beneficial form of holistic health care. Massage can provide stress relief, muscle tension relief, improve circulation, and the list goes on. But massage can be detrimental to your health if you have certain physical conditions, illnesses, or disease. You can also put your therapist at risk of contracting certain illness or disease if you are in a contagious state of health.

The term "massage contraindication" means you are not able to receive massage, or the massage may be limited to certain areas of your body. When you are contraindicated for a massage it is for your health and safety as well as the massage therapists. Not all contraindications mean that you will never be able to have a massage. There are two types of contraindications: local contraindications and absolute contraindications.

Local Contraindications

Local contraindications are conditions involving a pathology related illness/disease or an acute injury. These conditions mean caution must be exercised and the massage must be adapted to the condition. This is to ensure the safety of both the client and the therapist. For the client, the massage must be adjusted as to ensure it will not spread the condition, or further injure the client. For the therapist, it is to ensure the therapist does not contract the disease.

If you have what is determined to be a local contraindication your therapist may require a doctor's release before he will agree to provide you with a massage. While some local contraindications only require that you and your therapist discuss the condition and tailor the massage accordingly. In either Case, it is the therapist that will make the final decision as to whether or not you will be able to receive the massage. This is done to protect your health and safety as well as the massage therapist.

A massage may be adjusted for a local contraindication in several ways. It can mean an area is to be avoided, such a the lower leg of a recently sprained ankle. It can require that the pressure be adjusted during the massage. The position in which the client is lying the massage table is adjusted, such as using a side lying position for pregnant women. It can also mean the time allowed for the massage be adjusted.

Some of the more common local contraindications include, but are not limited to: Abnormal lumps, Ance Vulgaris, athlete's foot, blisters, bruises, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Colitis, Crohn's Disease, Cystitis (Baker's and sebaceous), Decubitus Ulcers, Gouty Arthritis, Graves' Disease, hernia, Hyper and Hypothyroidism, infectious diseases, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, local inflammation, open wounds, Phlebitis, poison ivy - oak - sumac, Shingles, swollen lymph glands, ulcers, unhealed burns (sunburn if not widespread), Varicose Veins, and warts.

The following conditions will require a medical doctors clearance: Acromegaly, Aneurysm, Atherosclerosis, Burns, Cancer, Cerebrovascular accident, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Congestive Heart Failure, Coronary Artery Disease, Hemophelia, Hodgkin's Disease, Kidney Stones, Leukemia, Myasthenia Gravis, Nephrosis, Peritonitis, Polycystic Kidney Disease, and Uremia.

Absolute Contraindications

Absolute contraindications are conditions where you cannot receive a massage. Giving a massage to someone who has an absolute contraindication can result in serious health risks for the client and/or the therapist. Some absolute contraindications can even cause death to the client.

Not all absolute contraindications are permanent; meaning you may have a condition that, once it clears, you can receive a massage. These conditions are typically an illness such as a viral infection. Some conditions are permanent and unfortunately if you have one, you will not be able to receive massage. In either Case, as long as the condition is in an acute stage, you will be denied massage therapy.

The following is a list of common, but temporary, absolute contraindications for massage: Chickenpox, Contact Dermatitis (if wide spread), diarrhea (if due to infection), fever, German Measles, Gout (during acute phase), Hepatitis, Hives, High Blood Pressure (unless controlled by medication, diet or exercise) Influenza (the flu), lice, Lupus (during a flare up), measles, Mononucleosis (mono), Mumps, Pneumonia, Ringworm, recent injuries or surgeries, Scabies, and Tonsillitis. This list is not definitive, but a list of the more common conditions that are absolute contraindications. These are all temporary conditions that once they have run their course, you can receive a massage.

The following conditions are a permanent condition that will prevent you from receiving a massage. These are serious conditions and if you receive a massage it can cause further health related problems or even death. Your massage therapist must be informed of these conditions. This is one of the reasons you are required fill out a health history form when you enter a professional massage therapists office.

Some common absolute permanent contraindications (this is not a definitive list): Blood Clots, Cirrhosis of the liver, Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), Embolism, Hypertension (unless controlled by medication, diet or exercise), Intestinal obstruction, Kidney failure, Lymphangitis, Myocarditis, Pericarditis, Pulmonary Embolism, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Syncope (fainting), and Tuberculosis.

While massage has many benefits certain conditions warrant caution. If you have a condition that has not been listed here, or you are unclear about whether you can receive massage, talk to your massage therapist and you family doctor. They will both be happy to discuss this with you. Remember, if you are turned down for a massage because of a condition you have, it is because the massage therapist has your best health at interest.

Your Favorite Seuss - A Baker's Dozen by the One and Only Dr Seuss

!: Your Favorite Seuss - A Baker's Dozen by the One and Only Dr Seuss

"Your Favorite Seuss: A Baker's Dozen by the One and Only Dr. Seuss" has provided my daughter and I many hours of enjoyment. We have a lot of the single editions of Dr. Seuss tales, but we have read ever story in this larger book numerous times as well. Yes, it is a bit heavy for her to hold, so I hold the book as we read. When she was younger, I read the stories to her, and she enjoyed following along enjoying them immensely. As she got older, she started to read the stories to me and had equally as much fun. She was reading these stories at five years old, and now that she is six, we still read them sometimes. I believe reading these and the other books helped her become a great reader for her age.

In this large hardcover volume, there are thirteen of the most popular Dr. Seuss stories. The stories included in this book are: And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, McElligot's Pool, If I Ran The Zoo, Horton Hears A Who, The Cat In The Hat, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Yertle The Turtle, Happy Birthday To You, Green Eggs And Ham, The Sneetches, Dr. Seuss's Sleep Book, The Lorax, and Oh The Places You'll Go. Besides these thirteen great tales accompanies by the original drawings, there is an introduction by Janet Schulman describing who Dr. Seuss was and essays before each story. These essays and additional information about the famous author are not yet interesting to my daughter, but I enjoyed them.

Besides the fun characters and words found in the stories by Dr. Seuss, there are messages that are as relevant today as when they were written. The Sneetches illustrates the idiocy of thinking one race is superior to another, or in this Case, having a star on your belly or not being the determining factor of who is superior. And one could easily argue that the environmental message found in The Lorax is even more important now than ever before. I'm sort of glad this is one of my daughter's favorites.

The final pages list all of the books Dr. Seuss wrote and the year he wrote them. I didn't realize he wrote forty-three books between 1937 and 1990. Although when I read through the list, I know all the titles. I know many from when I was a kid, and I guess that's why I'm happy to share them with my daughter. I think this is a great book for any Dr. Seuss fan, young or old.

Contemporary Figurative Artists - Todd White, Darren Baker & Jack Vettriano

!: Contemporary Figurative Artists - Todd White, Darren Baker & Jack Vettriano

Artists have always been intrigued by the human form and produced figurative based artwork. The natural curves and features of the human body are a constant source of inspiration for many artists from Beryl Cook to Banksy. This is something that has spread from the art world to every magazine cover in the country so there must be a natural intrigue for humans to examine our own and other people's bodies. Three of the top artists in this genre are Texan artist Todd White and British artists Darren Baker and Jack Vettriano although there are major differences between their painting styles. One thing that is the same is their love for painting the human figure.

Artist Todd White comes from Texas and has had an interesting career path. He started life working in Hollywood for Warner Brothers and was part of the artistic creative team behind Sponge Bob Square Pants. This could explain the cartoon looks of the people he paints in his contemporary designs. Todd White's artwork often shows people in black clothing socialising and drinking wine and this could be down to where he is based. It would seem that Todd White is surrounded by Hollywood schmoozers and social climbers and from his artwork I'd say he is not a fan.

Darren Baker is a young and very promising British artist who has already commanded a great deal of respect from his peers. Darren Baker has received numerous awards from the art world and has private and public collections in the House of Lords and Downing Street. He has also been approached by many sports personalities to paint portraits, this is probably because he was appointed official artist of The Professional Footballer's Association when he was 23 years old. Darren has a contemporary style that combines realism and classics and is fond of painting figures. Darren Baker frequently paints female figures often in relaxed, seductive positions and he often uses a mix of reds and blacks.

Jack Vettriano comes from Fife in Scotland and has won countless awards for his figurative and nude pieces. Jack Vettriano pieces have a film noir feel to them painting many of his subjects in a 50's style. He often features women in his paintings often in relaxed poses or in the middle of doing something like leaving a room through a door. Jack Vettriano often paints characters that appear distracted, many of his pieces feature people staring off into the distance or focused on something else.

Baker Park in Frederick, Maryland

!: Baker Park in Frederick, Maryland

Baker Park is a neighborhood in the City of Frederick that is outside of the Historic District, but has many charming historic homes. The architecture of the homes ranges from Victorian, Colonial, Arts and Crafts and Cape Cod's, to a few modern homes. The majority of the homes in this early planned community were built between 1905 and 1940. The neighborhood is quiet and walkable, and near to the downtown area.

The neighborhood surrounds Frederick's largest city park, Baker Park, extending from Interstate 15 to N. Bentz Street. Carroll Creek flows through the length of the Park, through the heart of the Historic District to the east side of the city to Gas House Pike. East of Bentz Street, the Creek is surrounded by Carroll Creek Linear Park. Beautiful Carroll Creek Linear Park opened in August 2006, after years of planning. The creek is a lovely centerpiece to Baker Park, surrounded by weeping willows and flanked by walking paths. A historic covered bridge over the creek makes a great photo opportunity.

Frederick's 35-acre linear park has a public swimming pool, several baseball fields, tennis courts and playgrounds for children. People of all ages can find activities in Baker Park. The park has an amphitheater, where live music and plays are featured during the summer months. Picnic areas are located throughout the Park. Culler Lake with its fountain is a beautiful, reflective spot to feed the ducks.

The park provides a nice vantage point to view the clustered spires, a phrase first used in the "Ballad of Barbara Fritchie", by John Greenleaf Whittier. The Historic District is home to several historic churches, whose spires make a beautiful scene which has been the inspiration for much artwork and several local logos.

The most charming feature of Baker Park is the Joseph Dill Baker Memorial Carillon, located at the east end of the park. The Joseph D. Baker Bell Tower, one of two bell towers in Maryland, and one of 140 in the United States, was erected in 1941 with 14 bells. Over the years bells were added periodically to equal the present 49 bells.

The Baker Bell Tower, dedicated to the founder of Baker Park, is the largest musical instrument in Maryland; it weighs 6000 pounds. The carillon, on top of the 70-foot granite tower, is played automatically on most occasions, with guest performances periodically on special occasions. A weekly recital is played each Sunday at noon for half an hour, and can be heard from anywhere near the park. The Sunday concert concludes with "The Star Spangled Banner" in honor of Francis Scott Key, the author, who practiced law in Frederick. Guest carillonneurs can be seen playing with fists and feet in the tower. For instance, the Groningen Carillon Duo from the Netherlands played after the July 4, 2009 fireworks.

Frederick's 4th, an Independence Day celebration is one of the largest festivals in Frederick, attracting over 70,000 people. For 27 years, Baker Park has been the site of fabulous fireworks on the 4th of July, with music, food, fun and children's activities all day long.

Joseph Baker founded the park in 1926, with the help of Lloyd C. Culler, two Frederick citizens. When the old Zentz Mill on Bentz Street burned to the ground on the morning of June 24, 1926, Joseph Baker started planning a city park that would serve the citizens of Frederick for years to come. His generous donation of land made the park possible.

Culler Lake, formerly named Kidwiler Pond, was transformed by the WPA and dedicated in 1940, renamed for the former Frederick Mayor Lloyd C. Culler. It was the site of skating in the winter and fishing in the summer.

Find out more from "Friends of Baker Park, Inc.", a non-profit, volunteer-staffed community service organization dedicated to fostering community involvement with the Frederick City Government in the preservation, restoration, use and maintenance of Baker Park.
